Mentoring programme

The transition from studying to working life raises many questions. Participate in the mentoring program to gain valuable knowledge or share your experiences and contacts with students and Alumni of BFH-HAFL.

Make important contacts, and benefit from the knowledge of more experienced professionals. The mentoring program brings together 'mentees' and experienced professionals as volunteer 'mentors.' Each mentee and mentor form a tandem that meets at relaxed intervals over the course of a year from November to November. Within this tandem, topics are exchanged that arise in connection with the transition into the professional world.

The personal needs, interests, and goals of the mentees are at the center of it all. These are defined together at the beginning and worked on and evaluated throughout the mentoring. Possible topics include:

  • Career planning; personal and professional development
  • Job search, applications, interviews
  • Insights into the working day of the mentor
  • Help in decision-making
  • Networking and contacts
  • Equal opportunities, compatibility of work and family
  • Salary or other negotiations
  • Exchange on specialized topics

Specifically, the mentoring program means:

  • 12 months
  • 4 to 8 personal meetings of the tandem
  • Participation in the kick-off event at the start
  • Participation in the mentoring meeting at the end
  • Feedback from the pairs to the program organization at the end.

The program is a cooperation between BFH-HAFL and the association "Alumni BFH-HAFL".

Mentees: Building a network early as a career advantage

The mentoring program creates personal and long-term relationships in your work environments and is aimed especially at students in their final year as well as young Alumni. It supports you as independent, creative, and responsible individuals.

Mentors: Refresh your knowledge and gain new perspectives

Having contact with the mentees allows mentors to refresh their own knowledge and look at established ways of thinking and acting from different perspectives. The mentees also provide insight into their respective study programs and their content. The program's events are designed to also promote connections with other mentors and their mentees, as well as with BFH-HAFL. Taking on the role of a mentor is, beyond personal interests, a contribution to supporting our industries and our own professions.
