New experts in the circular economy on the market

27.10.2025 Thirty students have successfully completed the master's degree programme in Circular Innovation and Sustainability at Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH. In this unique degree course offered across three BFH departments students gain practical and interdisciplinary knowledge of the circular economy and resource efficiency.

The new graduates have an in-depth knowledge of biological and technical cycles and the potential to develop innovative products and processes. They are also familiar with traditional business models, which they are able to question critically and redesign to be circular. With this master’s degree, graduates can help shape a sustainable future. ‘Graduates work in companies, start-ups, NGOs or in the public sector. Their tasks range from sustainability management to consulting, project management and research. The degree programme thus opens up a wide range of career opportunities – both nationally and internationally,’ explains Prof Ute Seeling, Director of the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (BFH-HAFL), who had the honour of congratulating the students at the graduation ceremony on 24 October 2025.

Outstanding achievements in the master's programme

Two graduates were particularly honoured for their outstanding academic achievements: Maja Franziska Bartholet from the canton of Zurich was awarded the Gebäudeversicherung Bern (GVB) prize for the best overall performance in the master’s programme, and Julia Isabelle Schärli from the canton of Lucerne received the prize for the best master’s thesis, sponsored by Loosli AG.
