Biography
- Emilie Magnin (born 1986) is a PhD candidate of the Studies in the Arts Graduate Program (SINTA) at the University of Bern. She participated in the research project Performance: Conservation, Materiality, Knowledge, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation at the Institute for Materiality in Art and Culture, Bern Academy of the Arts and is now Associated Researcher at the Institute. Her research examines the acquisition of performance works in museum context, with a particular focus on conservation practices. Through the lens of performance, she explores alternative modes of acquisition and expanded notions of conservation. She holds a Master’s degree in Conservation-Restoration and works as a media art conservator for the Kunstmuseum Bern.
