Expertise
Detecting, transmitting and processing signals, as well as controlling and optimising processes: our three research groups deal with problems in electrical engineering, mechatronics and mechanical engineering in the factory hall or in the field.
Process optimisation in manufacturing
Increase efficiency, drive innovation: we combine mechanical engineering expertise with interdisciplinary research. We optimise production processes, develop intelligent sensors and design, among other things, the battery production of the future. From simulations to prototype development, we offer practical solutions for a variety of industries.
Agile, cognitive robotics and automation
Our platform enables robots to perform tasks. Pre-programmed skills are simply parameterised during changeovers. The agile task planner avoids obstacles and finds ways to solve tasks that require high tolerances. OPC UA and information models ensure seamless communication between the cells and MES and ERP systems.
Embedded systems for IoT and high-speed processes
Real-time monitoring of production processes, control and regulation are among our core competencies. To this end, we use hardware/software co-design and implement it as systems on programmable chips (FPGA). Our research group also has expertise in virtual prototyping and the modelling of analogue/digital and multiphysical systems in VHDL(-AMS) and SystemC (AMS).
Our reference projects demonstrate the wide range of applications for these systems. They include examples of embedded control in the fields of industrial systems and consumer electronics, in the monitoring of buildings and in personal protection.
