Content + Structure

Portrait

Demanding and high-class at university level. This part-time continuing education programme in controlling and management challenges and promotes your focus on the financial management of your company. In order to fulfil a management function yourself, you will complete a training course in leadership. You will develop an understanding of the tasks of company management, strategies and markets.

As a good controller, you will also act as an internal consultant. Speak the language of senior management and ensure that your analyses and insights are heard. Optimise your personal and social skills, present yourself confidently and argue your case effectively.

Adults learn differently. That is why the continuing education at the BFH Business school is committed to modern adult education. Our mission with «brain, heart and hand» is an important principle in the design of our offers. Questions in the lessons are based on the participants' professional and practical life experiences. 

It is the mix of contact study and phases for self-study, analogue learning environment as well as digital tools that makes all the difference.

We work with Microsoft Teams in the CAS and in some courses and SAS-programmes. You have access to documents, messages and information and use the chat function within your class.

Continuing Education at the Business School (PDF, 154 KB)

You will learn how to deal with financial and business-relevant issues within a modern, progressive learning atmosphere. You will benefit from teamwork, presentations, plenary discussions, as well as lectures. You will solve tasks and work on case studies, study literature, attend lectures, workshops and seminars. Furthermore, you always have the opportunity to exchange your experiences in class with your classmates. 

We verify the achievement of the learning objectives of the teaching semester by means of written examinations. In addition to the written examination, you will also write a transfer report. In the transfer report, you take a topic from the course and apply it to your business practice. In this way, you deepen the specialised topic, structure and reflect on your own experiences.

The written form is also a preparation for the Master's thesis. The Master's thesis is assessed according to a predefined assessment grid, which includes criteria such as the comprehensibility of the argumentation and applicability in practice.

We offer short, free learning events for all students of our CAS programmes. With the courses Methodology Transfer Report, Effective Learning in Continuing Education at Universities of Applied Sciences and the Transfer Report workshop, we would like to support you in successfully and sustainably completing your CAS. Short overview.

Our lecturers are proven experts with fundamental practical and theoretical knowledge in their subject areas. They have at least a university degree plus many years of experience in higher education. For the complete list, please go to the German website.

Eligibility & Admission

Are you an expert in accounting and controlling or an auditor? This part-time continuing education programme in controlling and management requires your in-depth specialist knowledge. Your individual prior knowledge will influence the choice of programme content.

Admitted participants are:

  • Experts in accounting and controlling
  • Certified public accountants who are already in management positions and wish to develop their skills further with a university degree.

Admission requirements

Do you have a degree as a federally certified expert in accounting and controlling or as a certified auditor? You will therefore only need to complete one (instead of two) years of study before completing the EMBA. Do you have a university degree? In this case, you will complete the EMBA (four CAS) in two years.

Exceptions

The head of the degree programme will decide on admission based on a portfolio analysis and an assessment of your current situation. Please contact us.

Knowledge and skills

The degree programme requires the in-depth specialist knowledge acquired in preparation for the higher professional examination.

Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from Bern University of Applied Sciences with specialisation in ‘Controlling & Consulting’ (60 ECTS credits).

Organisation + Application

A total of 28 study days. 40 ECTS credits are earned in the one-year degree programme. 20 ECTS credits are recognised on the basis of previous education. Teaching days are Thursday - Saturday from 8.45 am - 4.15 pm. Maximum of 12 participants.

Information about the EMBA

3 weeks before start. Later registration possible if places are available.

CHF 18,900 

All compulsory literature, course materials and examinations are included in the costs. 

Not included: For the Six Sigma seminar, there will be additional expensed up to CHF 300 for the hotel, including overnight accommodation and full board. 

The continuing education regulations of the Bern University of Applied Sciences and the implementation regulations for the continuing education regulations apply. The right to make changes is reserved. In case of doubt, the wording of the legal provisions and regulations shall prevail.
