CV

  • Markus Schär is a lecturer at the Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH and responsible for international relations and global engagement in the Department of Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering. He is also heading the Center for sustainable Development and Cooperation, which was launched in April 2022 as a BFH spin-off.

    Prior to his engagement at BFH, Markus Schär worked for several years in the areas of international development cooperation as well as organizational and leadership development at leading private institutions around the globe and for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York.

    A Swiss citizen, Markus was born in Malaysia, grew up in Cameroon and Switzerland and is highly attuned to cross-cultural communication and management issues.

    Specialities: Private Public Partnerships for Development (PPP), policy advice and strategy development, value chains, change management and organisational development.
