Situation

In 2024, the canton set itself the goal of developing a strategy for artificial intelligence in order to establish a clear vision for the use of AI within the administration. BFH supported this process and was able to contribute content and technical expertise.

Course of action

The strategy was developed in a collaborative process. In an initial kick-off meeting, the basic outline of the strategy was defined and then elaborated. From the outset, the goal was to have a strategy that was as lean as possible, could be effective internally, and could highlight the approaches planned for implementing AI. It is also important to distinguish between technical and generative AI, as these two types and important points differ fundamentally.

Result

The strategy provides the canton of Aargau with a clear vision for the use of AI, enabling both the administration and citizens to benefit from its deployment.
